Children from 4-6 made jointly a Bird book, which embraced all kind of information about Birds, such as what do we know about Birds, what do they like to eat, what do they have in common, facts about Birds, illustrated songs and many other things.

We went to see a Bird exhibition at the Lyceum Gerðuberg in Reykjavík.

Downtown Reykjavík we have a pond with many birds like, Swan, Eiderduck and Black-headed gull.

We went to see them and feed them with bread, which they liked a lot.

We also wrote a little story about birds. 
The birds who live by the pond are resident birds. In May the Artic tern will 
come from the Antarctic land. Like when the Golden Plover comes to Iceland, we hear about it in the radio and newspapers.

Writing a story

A group of 4 years old children did a project of birds. First the teacher wrote everything the children knows about birds like the Raven sleeps in the rocks and there is a little brown bird called blackbird in our gardens. The young Raven is brown and they are very hungry. They also saw birds in the computer and draw pictures of birds.

Heiðlóa/Lóa-Golden Plover-Pluvialis apricaria

We have been  researching a bird called Heiðlóa, Golden Plover, (Pluvialis apricaria) in Spanish Chorlito dorado, in Latvian Dzeltenais tartins and Turkish Altin yagmurcun. We learned that this bird lives in all this four countries. In the winter he lives in Spain and Turkey and in the summer he comes to Latvia and Iceland to lay eggs. We say in Iceland when the Heiðlóa comes the spring has arrived.We have a lot of songs about this bird.
